Organic traffic is the best traffic you can ever get. It’s targeted & consistent.
No matter the business model you’ve chosen, Google can send thousands of real visitors to your website.
If you run a blog, then it’s equally vital that you consider these 7 effective ways.
SEO is a continuous process. You don’t have to do it with half-baked mind.
Most of the time, you may not see instant results. But you’ve to stick to it. Sure, every worthwhile activity that can enhance your business needs hard work.
There is no shortcut to making money online or building a profitable business.
If you truly want to make your website visible in search engines, especially GOOGLE, follow these 7 ways:
1. Select an evergreen niche
The first thing you must do to enjoy the free organic traffic is to select evergreen niche.
In this concept, evergreen simply means a niche that is hot, and ever active. In order words, the contents you write will be helpful today and in years to come. Google is looking for steadfast marketers who aren’t influenced by the latest fad online.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with writing about latest trends, but it must be bridged with the changes ahead. Evergreen contents will remain strong.
It doesn’t matter if Google Panda or Penguin is released to penalize websites, yours will stand strong. Some of the best evergreen niches are health, marketing, computing, small business, family and so on. Don’t build a website on fad, it’ll appear for a little while and fade away.
2. Research your keywords
The next stage is keyword research. Unfortunately, a lot of website owners don’t know how to research keywords. That is why they face severe competitions online. What you should aim for is long-tail keywords. Long tail keywords contain 3 or more words. You can easily rank for them.
Long tail key phrases as they are often called may not bring you thousands of visitors. The secret is to optimize for 10 key phrases and you’ll see the spike in your daily traffic.
When you want to research your long tail keywords, you’ve to start with Google keywords Tool first. Afterward, move on to freekeywords.wordtracker.com.
Copy an exact key term from Google (normal key term) and paste into the word tracker search box. Click search and that’s all. You’ll lay your hands on easy-to-rank phrases. Rather than optimize your website for “weight loss diet,” copy this term and dig into it.
You’ll see phrases like “weight loss diet for elites, weight loss diet programs online.” Focus on the later and you’ll dominate the first page of Google in no time.
3. Build landing pages
What’s a landing page?
A landing page is the foundation of your website. That is, it talks about the topics you cover and the solutions you provide. For instance, if you’re a small business coach, you can create landing pages for business plans, marketing strategies, product creation, networking and so on.
The landing pages will be richly optimized for the primary keyword you’re targeting. Now, Google recommends that you interlink relevant pages with each other. When this is done, a link-wheel will automatically be created. I’ve seen several landing pages on Google first page.
They’re search engine’s magnet. Build at least 5 landing pages and optimize for your target terms. If all you’ve on your website is the homepage and article pages, it’d be difficult to rank highly in Google. The contents on your website may be informative, but if there is no link-wheel that connects landing pages, you still have some work to do.
4. Write cornerstone contents
In line with building landing pages for your website or blog, you also have to write cornerstone contents. These types of contents are tutorial-based. They are valuable, evergreen and contain links to your inner pages.
Just like landing pages, cornerstone pages also are link magnets. Rather than struggle to generate links manually, let other people link to you. You need to satisfy your target visitors or they won’t do anything.
The keywords you researched earlier (long tail) are questions and needs faced by your audience. Cornerstone content simply takes one keyword idea and writes extensively on it.
Answer questions and help your audience get freedom from their problems. Especially if you’re in the internet marketing niche, where the right solution isn’t as readily available – informative contents will always be shared. That’s link building on steroid.
5. Build relevant backlinks
One factor that still continues to influence search engine ranking is quality links. And it’s important that you select the right websites that can provide other benefit, beside links. If all you do is build links, and do nothing else, Google would assume you’re deceiving the crawler.
To avoid this, only build links from authority sites. Authority sites have high Page Rank, a high custom data and user engagement. A-list blogs that fall into this category are problogger.net, johnchow.com, bloggingtips.com, businessinsider.com, copyblogger.com, howtospoter.com and several others.
Link building is crucial to your website’s growth. Build links gradually. Avoid using link generator tools. They can cause havoc on your website’s growth. Build links through social media networks, web 2.0 sites, article marketing, forums and blogging.
6. Engage your target audience
Google spider is a piece of script that followers people.
When a user visits your website, the spider will track the time the person arrived, and how long the person stays. Search engine optimization goes beyond targeting keywords. It’s about engaging your readers. Let them have a feel of what you offer. If you’re a blogger, then make sure your blog solves a particular problem.
You may not have answers to every question your readers are asking, but be determined to assist them in finding it. That’s engagement at its very best. When you increase your engagement, you’ll automatically reduce bounce rate. Check your Google Analytics account for bounce rate data.
Encourage people to read more articles on your website. Ask them to subscribe to your email list. If they spend quality time to read and comment on your blog posts, it’s a plus on your ranking. When you do this, Google will consistently send targeted traffic to your website. And how do you engage people? See the next line…
7. Write fresh contents regularly
Fresh content breeds engagement. Most bloggers don’t update their blogs regularly. Google spider will fall in love with a website or blog that’s fresh and active. Also, make your website load quickly.
Before writing your content, research the topic to know what your target audience wants. You must also know the topic you’re writing about. Ideally, stick to your passion and the words will flow naturally. Use simple words and sentences to convey your message. Break up big blocks of paragraph and keep it simple.
Use bullet points to encourage thorough reading. One of the reasons people don’t read the entire article is because, there is no structure.
The words and sentences are overlapping each other. If you continually deliver fresh contents to your readers, they’d promote you via word of mouth. And Google will push your ranking to the front page.
SEO take home…
Search engine optimization is not as difficult as some experts make it sound. It’s all about knowing your audience and understanding the changes going on around the web.
The web is a dynamic place. All elements of SEO will continue to change, but your audience will never change. So, write quality and evergreen content always. Build authority links and you’ll win. See you ahead!
